Wayne State University has some excellent funding opportunities available for new MLIS students for Fall 2015.
First, SLIS is offering a variety of New Student Scholarships which will cover approximately three LIS courses. These scholarships focus on innovative thinking, diversity, and a dedication to urban, underserved communities. To learn more about the full scholarship application requirements and deadlines, please see: http://slis.wayne.edu/admissions/new_student_scholarships.php .
Second, there are four WSU Library Graduate Student Assistantships and a Diversity GSA position within SLIS available for Fall 2015. Each assistantship provides a full tuition scholarship (up to 36 credits) for a master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS), plus an annual stipend and health insurance. The GSA positions are open to new students. Applications are now being accepted! For more information and full GSA application requirements, please see: http://slis.wayne.edu/wsu_gsa_application.php .
The application deadline for both the scholarships and GSA positions is June 1 .
Third, in partnership with the Detroit Area Library Network (DALNET) and the Suburban Library Cooperative (SLC), SLIS will offer eight $6,000 scholarships to paraprofessional employees of the cooperatives who are pursuing their MLIS degrees. These scholarships would give each recipient $1000 tuition remission per semester, over six semesters, while pursuing the 36-credit MLIS.
Last year SLIS awarded over $100,000 to its graduate students. The first step is applying to our MLIS program. Review application requirements and begin your application today!
