EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The vibrant and diverse City of Roseville, Michigan is seeking qualified and enthusiastic applicants for the following position in the Roseville Public Library:
POSITION: Adult Services Librarian
JOB DUTIES: Works primarily in adult area assisting the public with readers’ advisory and reference requests. Creates, plans, implements and promotes adult programs in and out of the library. Participates in selection, development, marketing and evaluation of adult collection. Assists patrons with technology questions and downloading digital content. Applies for grants to supplement and enrich the library’s collection and programs.
HOURS: 28 hours per week – includes evenings and Saturdays.
September – May: M 9-1, T 9-5, TH 12-8, F 9-5, Alt. Sat. 9:45-4:15
June – August: M 9-5, T 9-5, TH 12-8, F 9-5
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university. Applicants must submit proof of degree with application and official transcript at time of interview. Enthusiasm for public service to people of all ages is required. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to use library-related technology and instruct patrons of all ages in its use. Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a good driving record (based on City of Roseville standards). SALARY: $23.75 – $24.75 per hour – NO BENEFITS

POSITION: Library Intern – Youth or Adult Services
JOB DUTIES: Works in either Youth or Adult Services assisting the public with reference requests, readers’ advisory and technology; assists with programs; promotes the library, materials and programs; develops collection; various projects as assigned.
HOURS: 12 hours per week – Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, 4pm-8pm; Thursdays, 1pm-5pm and alternate Saturdays, 12pm-4pm.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree. Completion of at least twelve credit hours in an accredited Information/Library Science Master’s Degree program. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work successfully with patrons of all ages. Strong commitment to customer service. Attention to detail. Punctual and reliable. Knowledge of information technology and ability to assist patrons with devices and downloading digital content. Knowledge of social media, Microsoft Office and basic web site maintenance. Students must submit evidence of enrollment and satisfactory progress toward completion of their degree.

The Roseville Public Library (MI) is committed to providing an enriching and professional environment and is seeking a student who is currently enrolled in a School of Information/Library Science Master’s Degree program at an accredited college or university for a paid, part-time internship.
The position will allow the student to gain practical library knowledge and skills, while working with professional librarians and support staff.
This position has a term length of up to 2 years, working 12 hours per week including a variety of shifts.
Applicants should be enthusiastic about public service, exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a working knowledge of books and other media, databases and Familiarity with mobile technology is essential.
