Film, theater and television actor Sally Field named an Auditorium Speaker at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition
Sally Field, a two-time Academy Award and three-time Emmy Award-winning actor, who has portrayed dozens of iconic roles on both the large and small screens will speak from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans.

LLAMA announces 2018 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Award winners
The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), and The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), have announced the winners of the 2018 Library Interior Design Awards. The biennial Library Interior Design Awards recognize achievement in library interior design aesthetics, creativity and function.

PLA launches new interest groups in online community platform
The Public Library Association (PLA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), has unveiled eight new interest groups in the online community platform, ALA Connect. ALA Connect is a site where members of ALA meet and mingle virtually, discuss library-related topics and issues, share ideas, collaborate in communities, and come together to do the work of the Association.

Shannon Oltmann appointed editor of the ‘Journal of Intellectual Freedom and Privacy’
Shannon M. Oltmann, associate professor in the School of Information Science at the University of Kentucky, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Intellectual Freedom and Privacy, effective May 7, 2018. The Journal of Intellectual Freedom and Privacy, a quarterly journal published by the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Intellectual Freedom, provides a forum for discourse on intellectual freedom and privacy issues arising in libraries, archives and educational institutions.

Moeller to serve as YALSA’s research journal editor
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has selected Robin Moeller, associate professor of library science at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, as the next Member Editor for its open source, peer-reviewed research journal, the Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults (JRLYA).

Guided inquiry examined in new School Library Research article
New research published in the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) peer-reviewed online journal, School Library Research (SLR) examines perceptions and use of guided inquiry.
