Greetings!

If you have an interest in Public Library Friends groups, United for Libraries (the division of the American Library Association focused on Public Library Boards and Friends groups), provides many handy tools and tips to assist Friends groups with many typical activities.

One of these activities is Online Book Selling

This practice can be a very lucrative one since certain categories of books (such as certain textbooks, technical manuals, antique volumes, and more) can sometimes fetch a larger price online than in a typical book sale.

If your Friends group is considering launching online book sales, or is already selling books online but are curious about how other Friends Groups conduct online sales, United for Libraries has information for you!

To view this information:

Go to www.ala.org/united<http://www.ala.org/united>

LOGIN by clicking the "login" button in the upper right corner of your screen.

Login using the Username and Password provided by the Library of Michigan (with LSTA funds)
(If you are unsure of the username and password, contact membielac at michigan.gov<mailto:membielac at michigan.gov> and we will get the info to you).

Click the white button labeled "Friends", located approximately on the middle right of your screen.

You will be taken to the Friends Group area of the United for Libraries website.

Click the "Idea Sharing" link on the left navigation
Choose "Online Book selling"

Voila! Tips and info galore!

Enjoy - and while you are there, take a few minutes to explore the other Friends information available!

Need assistance? Don't hesitate to call or e-mail!
