The seven-member, governing Board of Trustees seeks an effective and charismatic Director who will continue to develop a thriving library, an enthusiastic staff, and innovative services for a supportive community. Washington-Centerville's two locations (including the newly-renovated and expanded Woodbourne Library) serves its 56,628 residents with a staff of 64.3FTE supported by a $7.8 million annual operating budget. Community support includes an operating levy providing 65% of the Library's budget (expiring in 2021), an award-winning Friends of the Library which supports library programming and technology and the Library's Foundation, which contributed significant support for the 2018 Woodbourne Library renovation and expansion.

Responsibilities. This position functions as the chief operating officer of the library and provides a high level of customer service to staff and the community. The Director assumes major administrative responsibility for implementing Library Board Policy and works closely with the Deputy Fiscal Officer to ensure sound financial operations that comply with the policies and decisions of the Board of Trustees. This position ensures actions are taken based on the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan as established by the Board of Trustees and serves as the leader of the Operations Team. Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include: a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited programs or related Master's degree; a minimum of five years of experience providing service in a comparable library environment; and a minimum m of three years of demonstrated leadership experience. Experience reporting to a governing board and successful experience working on levy campaigns is preferred.
Compensation. The position offers a hiring salary range of $105,000-$135,000 (dependent upon experience and qualifications) and includes an excellent benefits package<http://www.bradburymiller.com/washcentbenefits.pdf>.
