*Library Assistant 1 – Woodmere - Administration*

*Full-time*

The Traverse Area District Library is seeking a detail-oriented individual
with excellent financial skills and mathematical ability to provide various
bookkeeping functions for the District Library.  Working under the general
supervision of the Business Manager, this person will assist with various
financial functions including, but not limited to, accounts payable,
purchase order, payroll, and other duties as required.  Please see the

*Wage Range*:                                      $17.00 - $22.42 annual
wage steps according to current union

*Job Title*:             Financial Assistant

*Department*:      Administration

*Classification:*   Library Assistant 1

*Reports to*:         Business Manager

*Effective date*:                  June 19, 2019



*SUMMARY*

This position is responsible for various bookkeeping and HR functions for
the District Library.  The primary work focus would be on accounts payable
and payroll.  Human Resource tasks would be clerical in nature.  Performs
other duties as required.



*SUPERVISION RECEIVED*

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Business Manager.



*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

An employee in this position will be required to assist in the operation of
the library by performing any or all of the following essential duties and
others as assigned.

   - Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all
   work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards;
   - Maintain confidentiality of all financial and HR data;
   - Tracking receipt of materials on purchase orders;
   - Preparing invoices for payment and finalizing payment process after
   data entry by other staff;
   - Processing payroll and payroll-related disbursements;
   - Maintaining invoice and payroll files;
   - Communicating with vendors for problem resolution;
   - Assisting Business Manager with various financial and HR related
   duties; and
   - Performing related work as required.



*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*

*REQUIRED:*   Skill and knowledge of general accounting practices.

*REQUIRED:*   Excellent mathematical skills.

*REQUIRED:*   Proficiency with computers and Accounting software.

*REQUIRED:*   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

*REQUIRED:  * Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.

*REQUIRED:  * Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.



*EDUCATION *

*REQUIRED:*   Bachelor’s degree.

*PREFERRED*: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management.



*EXPERIENCE*

*REQUIRED:*  Three years of related experience.

*PREFERRED:  *Government accounting experience
