TITLE: Librarian - Youth Services Part-time (23 hrs/wk)
SALARY: $22.50/per hour
Pro-rated vacation, sick-time and paid holiday time.
REPORTS TO: Youth Services Coordinator
DESCRIPTION: Regular duties include reference and readers advisory service to adults and children. Librarians also assist patrons using the online catalog, electronic resources, internet computers, copiers, and print management system. Librarians are assigned responsibility for collection development in designated areas, and/or particular services such as contributing to youth online presence and outreach. Librarians may also plan and facilitate storytime’s, school visits, extended reading programs such as summer reading, and special events.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with integrated library systems and searching electronic resources is required.
Interpersonal and judgmental skills necessary to work effectively with library staff and patrons in a busy environment.
Ability to communicate effectively by phone, computer, and in person.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong public service commitment and positive attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility in scheduling is required. This position includes regular evening and weekends throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLIS/MIS from ALA accredited library school
Experience providing direct customer service
