Please join the LLAMA Practical and Applied Management Committee on Wednesday, October 30th @ 2pm Eastern Time/1pm Central Time for our latest event.

We address the importance of flexibility and agility- being ready to deal with unexpected changes, failures, and opportunities. Work life balance is a key part of we define what a successful career looks like. Our definition of success is not achieving the highest paid job or most prestigious job but finding a job you love while also being able to have a full life. We also discuss how to renew /re-energize ourselves.
Presenter Info:

Frances Maloy, College Librarian, Union College, Schenectady, NY Frances is the College Librarian at Union College in Schenectady, NY since 2012. In this role she oversees all functions of the Schaffer Library, Adirondack Research Library, Union College Permanent Collection and Mandeville Gallery. Prior to Union, Maloy was first Head of Access Services and then Leader for Public Services at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia from 1992-2012. Maloy began her career at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. She was the 2004-2005 ACRL President and the President of the Oberlin Group in 2016. Maloy is the mother of 3 teenage children and founded the ACRL discussion group, Balancing Baby and Book to give professional librarians a place to share experiences, support each other and effect change.

Tim Burke, Executive Director, Upper Hudson Library System, Albany, NY Tim Burke is the Executive Director of the Upper Hudson Library System in Albany, NY. His 30+ year career in the profession includes service, management and leadership experience in academic libraries, public libraries, and library systems. He earned his MLS from the University of Buffalo. He is active in many statewide organizations and committees working to improve and enhance the New York library community, most significantly the New York Library Association, where he's just finishing a term as the NYLA President.
