Also: John Grisham also has a series for teens, featuring Theodore Boone, which are mysteries with a legal slant (not surprisingly).

These are my go-to series:
Young (Teenage) Sherlock Holmes series by Andrew Lane is good. First book is Death Cloud.
Teen James Bond series by Charles Higson. Silverfin is first, I think.
Good luck.

There was a good piece on the Alex Rider books series the other day on NPR:

A teenager spy novel series.

Subject: [Michlib-l] Mystery titles
Good evening:
I am hoping the collective wisdom can help with some book suggestions. I have a patron who is looking for mystery titles/series for a 17 year old boy. She gathered his name from DHHS, and knows nothing about him. She is not sure if his family has any Internet access, so she does not want to purchase an Amazon gift card.
Thank you in advance for all of your assistance.
‘Amy
