Perhaps one of Dan Gutman's books. We think of him as a sports story writer, but he has written some historical books. One series is called Flashback Four where a photographer and 4 kids go back in time to take pictures of historic events. Another is the QWERTY Stevens short series, two or 3 books that take the reader back in time with historic people.

We're looking at adding a doorstep delivery service If your library offers
doorstep delivery for materials, please share your methods or
policy/procedures? I'd love to hear what lessons you've learned in the
process. Do you have a library car or use the staff's personal car? Do
you offer a higher pay rate for the staff doing the delivery to cover use
of their vehicle? Any suggestions on little things like how staff
organize, label, and segregate deliveries and returns or how you
coordinate/schedule appointments would be incredibly helpful!

I am trying to find the name of a book for a customer. It was a kids book
that he read in the late 1980s that had kids that were able to time travel
back to see the Mayflower land at Plymouth Rock. There was some sort of
adult mentor or guide in it that was really into macarons. The kids were
able to travel back and forth in time by saying "ptchwyx" - that really
stuck with him. He isn't sure if it was part of a series, or how old it
was when he read it. Does any of that ring a bell with someone?

Hi everyone,
I am looking to gain experience in a public library setting as an intern or
volunteer. I graduated from Wayne State with my MLIS in 2011 and I am
currently re-enrolled to complete a graduate certificate in school
librarianship. I've been working as a high school English teacher for 15
years, so I have a great deal of experience working with teens and
literacy-related issues. My goal is to become a teen or adult services
librarian in the West Michigan area or to work in a school library.
Does anyone have any advice on how to gain more library work experience, or
do you have a need for an intern or volunteer, preferably in West
Michigan? What do you look for on a resume when you hire? Taking a
part-time job in place of teaching is unfortunately not an option for me.

I wouldn't think so. Those were first published in the early 1990's and
the three friends traveled through time using a magic book. There weren't
any adults traveling with them. Sorry, I'm pretty sure that's not it.

I wouldn't think so. Those were first published in the early 1990's and the three friends traveled through time using a magic book. There weren't any adults traveling with them. Sorry, I'm pretty sure that's not it.

I want to thank all that replied to my inquiry about the hotspots. I have a
couple leads and I will let you know how it goes.
Several of you passed along the information for Joel Bell
(joel.bell100 at t-mobile.com <mailto:joel.bell100 at t-mobile.com> ) at T-Mobile
so I thought I would give a shout out to him. He was the first person I
contacted and he was great. T-Mobile had the best price and the best plan
and they even sent me a test unit to try out. Unfortunately after taking the
device around our service area I discovered we have very little T-Mobile
cell coverage. So if you are thinking of getting hotspots for your library I
suggest you start with Joel and then you will know for sure if it will work
for you before you purchase.

Subject: AT&T Hotspots
We are looking to purchase a couple AT&T hotspots (they have the best
coverage for our service area) and I am looking for a contact person. I had
contacted them before and got shuffled through three reps and now they are
not replying to my emails (I Cc all of them when I contact them). I'm
guessing there is a shortage of devices due to the current demand but that
is no reason to ignore me. So if you have someone you are dealing with at
AT&T for hotspots that I could contact I would appreciate any information
since they are pretty much my only option.

Hi everyone,
Join me in congratulating CADL's Head Librarian at our Foster Branch, Jean Bolley on her retirement. Jean is and has been a truly exceptional librarian for our system. She's been with CADL since we formed in 1998 and before that, she worked for the Lansing Public Library beginning in 1973. Throughout all her years, she had a passion and talent for storytelling and storytimes. This stems not only from her experience as a librarian, but also from the fact that she has a master's degree in Education with an emphasis on storytelling. She built up our Foster Branch as the area leader for building early literacy skills for local families. There have been so many children in our area who started their literacy journey by attending Jean's storytimes.
Along with all of Jean's fantastic work, she's also created a "farm team" of future librarians at Foster. We've had four staff members who've started as pages or library assistants and then moved on to get their degrees and into professional positions. We can't thank Jean enough for all that she's given to the Eastside of Lansing and to our entire area.
