The Lapeer District Library (LDL) board is seeking a good-humored,
creative, forward thinking, progressive library director due to the current
director’s retirement.   LDL is a small and rural Class 6 library system
located in Michigan’s Thumb, serving 60,006 residents in twelve townships
and one city.  The library’s eight buildings are located in the City of
Lapeer and in outlying villages.

with a $2.1M budget from a voted millage, penal fines, and state aid, and
has a staff of 46 that includes 13 full-time positions (5 MLS librarians).
The board is governing, and appointed for four year terms.

The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with staff
and community, will understand financial and human resource management, is
committed to professional development for self and staff, and will work
with staff on forging new partnerships in the communities served.  The
library is currently beginning a new strategic plan, and has just
contracted with Library Market for a new web site.  Fines were eliminated
at the beginning of 2019.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Library Science or Information
Science (MLS or MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited
school, and five years of progressively-responsible experience in library
administration.

Compensation: from $65,000 depending on education and experience, with a
generous benefit package.
