Hello Summer Library Programming Planners,

Exciting news – the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) members across the country have chimed in & state reps have voted… the 2022 Oceanography slogan is: “Oceans of Possibility,” illustrated by Sophie Blackall<http://www.sophieblackall.com/books>! They’re collecting ideas for the 2022 manual now, so be sure to submit your best 2022 Oceanography programming ideas to CSLP today by using the following form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1DeJFRWvljWtLztrySY3g28qes8C96MSYSj4NBrjMHekknA/viewform?usp=sf_link<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSe1DeJFRWvljWtLztrySY3g28qes8C96MSYSj4NBrjMHekknA%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Dsf_link&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C39a5b987969c4af7f73a08d856641f1f%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637354335308977445&sdata=ubh6ArcMx9LCLOYsLHSfMt7LOoNP%2Fog3T9wcSnRiWYE%3D&reserved=0>.

CSLP also selected the 2024 theme to be “Adventure,” the artist for that year is Juana Martinez-Neal<https://juanamartinezneal.com/books/>. (“Wait, where’s 2023,” you ask? A quick reminder that it will be “All Together Now” with Frank Morrison!)
Now, as for 2021’s Tails & Tales, please be aware that the CSLP store is open<https://www.cslpreads.org/cslp-store/> (there are even felt characters<https://www.cslpreads.org/product/tails-and-tales-uncut-felt-characters/?fbclid=IwAR0IdWRxbQS0MsFJu69hAMo5MuiFfdB7U3HrMSwPuizCS6YQK55z9_wVGMc> this year!), but the manual codes have not been released yet. I will be sure to post to the listserv how to access the manual once it’s launched. Meanwhile, feel free to use Imagine Your Story throughout the winter months for your family engagement. All public libraries in Michigan are member libraries, thanks to support from IMLS.

A reminder that CSLP is an almost all volunteer driven organization of librarians across the US and island nations for members. Consider joining a CSLP committee<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cslpreads.org%2Fjoin-a-cslp-committee%2F&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C39a5b987969c4af7f73a08d856641f1f%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637354335308977445&sdata=%2Bti32s12sjAhu0wPPLBaG%2F5%2F3Zpd6mztqwWrO9HuF3E%3D&reserved=0> to network and shape CSLP; sign-ups for 2021 are open until October 2nd. While the duties vary, committee obligations generally run for one calendar year. All committee work is done virtually; either through email, or through phone or online meetings. Attending the CSLP Annual Meeting is not required. For more information, please visit: https://www.cslpreads.org/join-a-cslp-committee/<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cslpreads.org%2Fjoin-a-cslp-committee%2F&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C39a5b987969c4af7f73a08d856641f1f%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637354335308987403&sdata=pU7QvpcjhrANSO%2FK80MiiWtYRKTmRvWp%2Bx6xOU5sU%2Fc%3D&reserved=0>. This is a great opportunity to participate in a national library group and make new connections while shaping summer library programming! Want to know more about the CSLP committees? “Attend” the 2020 Committee Fair: https://www.cslpreads.org/2020-committee-fair/<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cslpreads.org%2F2020-committee-fair%2F&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C39a5b987969c4af7f73a08d856641f1f%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637354335308987403&sdata=AsUNU%2FHlOleFE0wmIcNc546XWOgnYrzHX83o5DlZ6ZI%3D&reserved=0>

You may have seen the big art reveal for Summer 2021’s “Tails & Tales” by Salina Yoon in the CSLP August Newsletter<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fus13.campaign-archive.com%2F%3Fe%3D__test_email__%26u%3D043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd405%26id%3Dd16487fbff&data=02%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7C9c18b3a5e5c84ca6cf0208d84f4ab4c4%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637346529569157441&sdata=v6OV6HfrD82WQPPkJoG9xOYTBp1GzhIi%2F2v4b4Py8g0%3D&reserved=0> or in the *new program planning CSLP Facebook group<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fgroups%2Fcslp.planning&data=02%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7C9c18b3a5e5c84ca6cf0208d84f4ab4c4%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637346529569167392&sdata=vASKXgDcH8F%2Fx2QIBuXUAz56aT1LkD1a%2FUUIC8JFL7k%3D&reserved=0>*. Feel free to give your patrons a sneak peek, too, by using some of the sample posts in the new 2021 Tails & Tales Social Media Toolkit: https://bit.ly/CSLP_Toolkit21<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FCSLP_Toolkit21&data=02%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7C9c18b3a5e5c84ca6cf0208d84f4ab4c4%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637346529569167392&sdata=dDbB8Xdp8EJwFqgO5BZ%2FFD%2F2T%2Br6LkfO3fASaxRSHbs%3D&reserved=0>. The document is a living one, so the CSLP social media team will keep plugging away at adding graphics and sample posts as Summer 2021 approaches. Looking forward to seeing #TailsandTales posts from your libraries!

Finally a reminder that the 2020 Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) End-of-Summer Survey is open and ready for your input, through Friday, September 25, 2020: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqwRQuxtvf1yrjDP9Wm9u3iTEpMuL79vezpvkD-PFtxQr2dw/viewform?usp=sf_link<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSdqwRQuxtvf1yrjDP9Wm9u3iTEpMuL79vezpvkD-PFtxQr2dw%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Dsf_link&data=02%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7Cd9e6b3f75d2c491cebb908d845dc27ea%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637336159152178914&sdata=%2Fa6b0HVokG3cMDwJCMRctHAxhabjtkzHMVtychcE204%3D&reserved=0>. The survey covers three age groups, Children’s (0-11), Teens (12-18), and Adults (19+) [age categories as defined by the Institute of Museum and Library Services]. You may designate someone in your library to complete the whole survey, or feel free to have different department leaders complete their sections separately. Libraries are listed by District, not branch. For CSLP, you may combine your virtual views as attendance – this is different than the standards are for annual reports<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.michigan.gov%2Fdocuments%2Flibraryofmichigan%2FLM_2020_Annual_Report_Changes_685687_7.pdf&data=02%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7Cd9e6b3f75d2c491cebb908d845dc27ea%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637336159152178914&sdata=phHv3cAkVYis0VuJ%2Feklc4FMHRu3d6OXMuCTdGWaaIk%3D&reserved=0>, so please be advised.

This program is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Whew. That’s a lot. I think I remembered everything… 😉
