[Michlib-l] Lyon Township Public Library invites you to 2 Zoom events this Tuesday and Wednesday!

Please join the Lyon Township Public Library online via zoom for two
upcoming Zoom presentations this week:

The first is, *"**Spanish American War" *on Tuesday, June 15 at 6:30pm.
Presented by Guest speaker, Genealogist Derek Blunt, this talk will cover
the events leading up to and including the war. A discussion of what kinds
of artifacts and records were created and where to find them. Registration

Derek Blount is a professional genealogist with his own business, “Lost
Branches”. He has worked for 33 years on his family genealogy traveling
America, Canada and the United Kingdom gathering records, visiting
cemeteries and churches. Derek was born in England and specializes in
research in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth nations. He holds a B.S.
degree from Oakland University and has completed coursework at the
Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. He has lectured on numerous
genealogy subjects for the past six years to many of the Michigan
genealogical societies. He also serves as Vice President of the Oakland
County Genealogical Society and is also on the Board of the Detroit Society
for Genealogical Research. Derek also holds memberships in the Irish
Genealogical Society of Michigan and the Welsh Genealogical Society. He
holds memberships in the Association of Genealogical Professionals and the
Society of Genealogists in London. Derek also serves as the Genealogist for
the St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit.
The second upcoming event is this Wednesday, June 16 at 7pm, *"The
Cryptozoology of the Great Lakes"* with Author and Cryptozoology Researcher
Shetan Noir. She will uncover the many different cryptid creatures from
lake monsters to bigfoot that call the Great Lakes their home. Registration

Shetan Noir is a great lakes area based Author and Journalist. She also
teaches courses at Kellogg community College and Owen's community College.
Her courses are the paranormal history of the great lakes and cryptozoology
of North America. Shetan has written many books and is working on several
more upcoming book projects. Her current book is Mothman and other flying
creatures of the midwest, release will be in September 2019.

Shetan Noir is also a cryptozoology researcher and has spent 25 years
researching the Paranormal and Cryptozoology fields. Her fascination began
with lake monsters at an early age when she first learned about the Loch
Ness monster, then hearing reports of lake monsters in her own state of
Michigan. Her research has since grown to include Michigan's own Dogman and
Nain Rouge, Bigfoot and ghost hunting.
