Hello all!

We're reconsidering our current contracted bookkeeping and payroll services
model. Right now, we enter all the approved bills into our Quickbooks, cut
and mail the checks, and the bookkeeper remotes in to do journal entries,
reconciliations, and otherwise assists with oversight and questions. Our
payroll system and workflow is much less smooth, with paper time sheets
being approved by management, then hours entered into a portal of a
different system (not Quickbooks). We send any requests for changes to
paid leave amounts, employees, status or pay rates, etc, along with all
quarterly report forms to our payroll specialist who then responds by email
with changes. Payroll reports are sent to our bookkeeper, who then
manually enters them into Quickbooks as a journal entry. Timing, flow, and
lack of shared understanding of the payroll system has caused several
unfortunate situations over the last several years. I've come to wonder if
it really has to be this hard.

*What program/company/process do you use that works well for you? Do you
have a company that you work with for expert oversight? Do you run it all
in Quickbooks? What does your workflow look like? *

Any input greatly appreciated. In fact, *please brag on your
system/company/process! I'd love to hear about it.* Our current system
was a good fit for us when we first transitioned, but it might be time for
a change. Paint me a picture of what it looks like when it goes smoothly?
