Bringing "Talk: Text and Learn for Kindergarten" to Your Library<https://libraryofmichigan.z2systems.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/event.jsp?event=397>
Tuesday, May 25, 2021
2:00 PM ET
"TALK: Text and Learn for Kindergarten" is an early literacy text messaging service launched by Ypsilanti District Library and partners, with LSTA grant funding. This program will allow libraries across Michigan to text families with activities to do with children 5 and under to prepare them for school and beyond. Libraries will also be able to use the program to promote events and collections to families with young children and get tips for building community partnerships for early literacy. Find out more about this project that will be available for public libraries to implement starting this Fall, with IMLS National Leadership funding.
This webinar will be recorded and shared with registrants. It is brought to you by the Library of Michigan and Ypsilanti District Library, with support in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The Zoom link will be emailed to registered attendees the day before the webinar.

Trauma management: Resource roundup<https://www.oclc.org/realm/resources/trauma-management-roundup.html>

Empathetic service, positive visitor encounters, and a more trusting and equitable workplace for employees are only a few benefits that this approach can offer. This roundup features examples of libraries, archives, and museums applying trauma-informed concepts to public service, as well as articles that focus on the impact of trauma on staff.

Fostering an Antiracist Library Culture
September 2021
Details & link to register: https://www.libraryjournal.com/?event=equity-in-action-sept-2021
Library staff at all levels within their organizations have the power-and the responsibility-to help cultivate an antiracist culture, from evaluating spaces, programs, services, and collections to examining policies and practices to reflecting on one's own implicit biases. Creating an internal culture founded on principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion is essential to building a community-centered library that meets the needs and expectations of its users.
In this course, you will learn about the concrete actions library leaders are taking to make their libraries antiracist today and in the future, and the tools that make it possible. Practical coursework, along with targeted support, will take you from theory to application, helping you to transform your library services to better meet the needs of all your patrons-and attract new ones.
You'll complete assignments to build your own equity-based initiative over 3+ weeks in an interactive online classroom environment with personal coaching from an expert in the field. In addition, you'll have access to our foundational bonus content-rich supporting materials you can explore at your own pace, including a series of webinars from Library Journal and School Library Journal contributors, readings, activities, and videos.
