Hi Greetings- I wanted to reach out with an update that sign-up links for all remaining MICRC public hearings are now posted!

I've listed all upcoming hearing dates and sign-up links below. As you know, Public participation in this process is critical, and the Commission needs to hear from all voices to help ensure fair electoral district lines, so your help is very much appreciated!!

The below sign-up links invite members of the public to:

1.       Sign-up in advance for virtual public comment. Members of the public must sign-up in advance to participate in virtual public comment. Sign-up closes at 12PM the day of the event.



2.       RSVP-in-advance for in-person public comment or attendance (encouraged but not required). The MICRC encourages members of the public to RSVP-in-advance for in-person public comment participation, particularly if they have accessibility or translation needs. RSVP-in-advance is not required and any member of the public is welcome to sign-up for public comment directly at the event. Speaking order is determined on a first-come, first-served basis at the event venue. In-person public comment sign-up opens one-hour prior to the event and closes at 8PM the day of the event.

Greetings - Happy Monday! Following up on my below email re: MICRC public hearings and public comment participation. Let me know if you're willing to help us spread the word with Libraries in Michigan's members and community and I'm happy to provide additional resources such as draft newsletter or social media language.

Just want to reiterate how exciting this opportunity is and how grateful our office is for your assistance. For the first time ever, Michigan residents have a say in what our state's electoral district lines look like and can help ensure a fair and transparent redistricting process. Our office encourages residents from all areas of the state to provide input to the Commission - including MI residents from areas not in direct proximity to the hearing locations (all hearing dates and locations are listed in my below email).

Each hearing features in-person and remote (via Zoom or by phone) participation and public comment opportunities. We aim to make it as easy as possible for all Michiganders to participate and make their voice heard.

My name is Sarah Reinhardt and I am an analyst for Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson at the Michigan Department of State. I am writing to ask for your help in engaging your members and community in Michigan's redistricting process.

Michigan's first-ever Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission<http://www.michigan.gov/micrc> (MICRC) is hosting a series of public hearings<https://www.michigan.gov/micrc/0,10083,7-418-92033-547695--,00.html> across the state in May and June to solicit input from the public about their communities, representation and electoral district lines (see below for a full list of public hearings).

Libraries in Michigan can engage in this historic process in two key ways:

*       Encourage your members and community to attend a Commission hearing<https://www.michigan.gov/micrc/0,10083,7-418-92033-547695--,00.html>. I've included all dates and locations at the end of this email. Each public hearing will feature in-person and remote viewing and public comment participation options (via Zoom or phone).

*       Use the Commission's Public Comment Portal<https://www.michigan-mapping.org/> to submit a suggested map or community of interest, provide written testimony, or comment on other map submissions.

This is an extraordinary moment for all Michiganders to get involved and ensure the fair representation. It is critical that Libraries in Michigan members and community, and all Michiganders, participate in this this transparent, citizen-led process.
