On Wednesday, October 20, at 7:00 pm EDT, the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University will host the second of four presentations as part of the Clarke's Virtual Fall Speakers Series (you can find the entire line-up on the Clarke's website<https://www.cmich.edu/library/clarke/publicprograms/current_exhibit/pages/default.aspx#speakers>).

Camden Burd, professor of history at Eastern Illinois University, will join us to talk about the effort to create a 51st state - Superior. In the mid-twentieth century, a secession movement took hold in the Upper Peninsula. Camden Burd will discuss the immediate and long-term political implications of the push to found the State of Superior.

This presentation is free and open to the public. The event will be broadcast via Central Michigan University's videoconferencing tool, Webex, and it will be recorded to enjoy at a later time. Registration is required for the event and the shortened link to register is: https://is.gd/ClarkeBurd.
