The Sterling Heights Public Library is now recruiting for a Part-Time
Librarian with a focus on Local History/Archives.
The position pays $25.29/hour to start, with increases every six months
up to $28.40/hour. 37.5 hours of paid time off/yr. are also provided.

The City of Sterling Heights is seeking a part-time librarian who is
committed to the mission of the Sterling Heights Public Library and
capable of providing excellent library services and programming to
patrons!
Position Summary
Under supervision of the Public Services Area Coordinator, the part time
librarian is responsible for providing information, reference, and
referral services in Adult & Youth Services, collection development
activities, provides instruction in the use of print and digital
resources, and develops/presents programs for adults. The current
vacancy is Archives-focused and is responsible for maintaining local
history collections and conducting tours of the Upton House Museum.
Position Responsibilities
Provides information, reference, and referral services in Adult and
Youth Services.
Selects, evaluates, and weeds materials for specific areas of the
collection.
Provides instruction in the use of print and digital resources.
Develops and/or presents programs for adults.
Maintains the library’s local history collections and conducts tours of
the Upton House Museum.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited ALA college or
university.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of online databases, reference resources, and public computer
applications to assist the general public.
Knowledge of tablet and/or mobile devices used for accessing Overdrive,
Hoopla, and other digital services.
Ability to work a part time schedule that includes 1 daytime shift, 2
evening shifts, every other Saturday, and every fifth Sunday during the
school year.
Position Pay
The starting rate is $25.2942 with 6 month step increases up to $28.4092
