Dear Michlib-L,

NDL invites you to join us this Thursday, February 17 at 7 PM via zoom for a talk & presentation with Candacy Taylor, award-winning author, photographer, cultural documentarian and curator/content specialist for an exhibition that toured in 2020 by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). She will discuss her book, the Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America (Abrams Books) and answer questions.

Event description:

The Green Book listed hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and other businesses that were safe for black travelers. It was a resourceful and innovative solution to a horrific problem. It took courage to be listed in the Green Book, and [ https://catalog.tln.lib.mi.us/?section=resource&resourceid=725492462&currentIndex=1&view=allCopiesDetailsTab | Overground Railroad ] celebrates the stories of those who put their names in the book and stood up against segregation.
