 The Collections Access Librarian provides consistent and reliable access
to the Library’s print and electronic resources, developing systems to
enhance discovery and use of all Library collections. Working at the
service desk and behind the scenes, they serve as an expert in the way
print and electronic resources are used by students, faculty and staff, and
the way interlibrary loan and copyright help to make materials available.
Working closely with electronic resources, collections access, and research
and discovery staff, this position develops effective methods to find
information resources of all types and make them available to library
users. As with all Librarians at Kettering, this position has
responsibilities for collection development and research.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

   -

   Takes a leading role in the Library’s Materials on Demand service, using
   expertise to find relevant resources in the Library collections, and to
   connect users with resources in other libraries through interlibrary loan.


   -

   While all public-facing positions help library users locate documents,
   this position is the expert. Working closely with research and discovery,
   collections access staff, and library users, they use expertise to locate
   resources that are difficult to find.
   -

   Uses technological expertise and a deep understanding of library systems
   and interlibrary loan networks, to develop efficient procedures for
   Materials on Demand.
   -

   Implements copyright policies of Kettering University Library, studies
   relevant copyright laws and trends, and consults with the Head of
   Collections Access to make additions to the policies.
   -

   Ability to develop expertise in a scientific and technical subject
   area.  Serve as a Library Liaison to an academic department, facilitating
   collection building, library instruction and LibGuide development.
   -

   Ability to meet the public and provide reference services and work in a
   public service setting effectively, providing an excellent level of
   information service in a friendly and responsive manner both in-person and
   online.
