[Michlib-l] Sad news to share - Donna Olson

[Paulina Poplawska]

Donna Olson passed away Friday morning. She was the Library Director at
Salem-South Lyon District Library from 2016 until her retirement February
4, 2021 following a long career of public service. Prior to SSLDL, she
spent 14 years as an Information Specialist at Howell Carnegie District
Library.

She worked tirelessly to put library resources into the hands of the
community for library users and non-users alike. Donna believed that "The
finest libraries are not only buildings - they are a vision and a service,
the best of ourselves that we offer to others."

One of her greatest accomplishments as Director was the $1.2 million Youth
Expansion in June 2019. The expansion has provided an additional meeting
room, Tween area, and additional space for our growing community. SSLDL
will continue to benefit from her leadership for many years to come.

Her family intends to have a celebration for her in the months to come.
