Library Director Job Posting

Northern Michigan Library Director Opportunity

We're drawn to a library like we’re drawn to the edge of a body of water,
because both allow us space for dreaming, contemplation, entertainment, and
growth. How special would it be to work in a space that provides both?
The Elk Rapids District Library Board of Trustees proudly announces the
search for their next Library Director.

The current Library building is quaint with a collection of 20,000 items
and digital resources including MEL and Overdrive. The Elk Rapids Library
is staffed with nine dedicated team members. Housed in the former
residence of one of the town’s founding families, the Elk Rapids District
Library is located adjacent to Grand Traverse Bay with views of the harbor
and a fresh new look with each change of the seasons in this Northern
Michigan town.

The library services an area of 6,000 people year-round, growing to three
times that amount in the tourist season. The community represents a
concentrated offering of specialty shops, merchants, and restaurants, while
continuously nodding to its limitless outdoor recreational opportunities,
all of which are highlighted in the video at the following link.
