An Annular Eclipse in 2023 and a Total Solar Eclipse in 2024... and time is running out to register for training!
SEAL: Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries with STAR Net - All Ages
These SEAL workshops will prepare and empower public library staff to facilitate meaningful solar and space science programs for their patrons that build curiosity, knowledge and inspiration. Attendees will receive hands-on training on operating solar telescopes and other methods for direct and indirect solar viewing, best practices for developing and facilitating STEM programs, and how to engage with community partners and library-specific digital resource networks. Attendees will also be able to sign up for free solar eclipse glasses to distribute to their communities in advance of both eclipses!

YALSA/ALSC: New Booklist Available!
In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, the Chinese American Librarians Association partnered with the Young Adult Library Services Association and collaborated with ALSC's Quicklists Consulting committee to create a reading list for youth centering Chinese American voices. Stories Beyond Borders: A Chinese American and Diasporic Reading List<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AJ5ZQnKg-h8GMJqrD6NNXQEHaBwd2cjA/view> features Chinese American and diasporic creators and stories for children, middle grade, and YA audiences. The booklist was designed by Allison Chi and includes illustrations from the children's book Let's Do Everything and Nothing by Julia Kuo.

Breaking Stereotypes through Children's Books

Submissions Sought for on Early Literacy
CLELCON is the annual conference of the Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy (CLEL) that provides workshops, keynote speakers and networking to anyone who is involved or wants to be involved with early literacy. It is recognized nationwide as a premier early literacy professional development opportunity. CLEL is seeking presenters for the 2023 Virtual Conference, scheduled for September 21 & 22, 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. The virtual conference offers two different opportunities to share your knowledge and experience: Break Out Session Presenters and Discussion Facilitators. Major areas include Early Literacy Foundations, Early Literacy Leadership and News in this field. Break Out Session Presenters will prepare and lead a virtual presentation related to the field of early literacy.
