[Michlib-l] Cricut Repair?

I am curious if you're saying one of the 4 rubber grip wheels has slipped out of place or if you're referring to the two grey ones on the outer edge?

If it's one of the 4 white ones and it didn't entirely bust off, you should just be able to slide it back. I assume this is not one of the wheel those and you are saying the outer wheel has a problem?

I unfortunately would say that if Cricut customer service wasn't able to offer you help on replace/repair you are likely out of luck with the specific machine, probably even more so if it is one of the older Explore Airs. Their customer service is top notch and seem to go above and beyond each time. Their machines only have a warranty for one year, but usually I think they would just send you a replacement.

I would struggle to suggest a place for it to be repaired, but if anything I suppose one of those places that do laptops/tablets/phones would be your best bet. The drawback with that is they might not know the anatomy of those machines and how to properly take it apart to put it all back together. I hope all the best! If you don't use the machine too often, I tend to see them on FB marketplace often. :)

Best,

Subject: [Michlib-l] Cricut Repair?

Hello All,

This is a question for those libraries with Makerspaces, specifically Cricut machines.

We have a Cricut we use internally. One of the wheels that pulls the paper into the machine has slipped out of place. The machine needs to be taken apart to put the piece back (maybe even needing a new piece).

However, I am not sure what type of business might repair a machine like this... The Cricut website proved to not be helpful.

Have any other libraries needed their Cricuts repaired? If so, where do you take them?

The machine is only a few years old and we don't use it more than a few times per year, so I'd hate to have to get a new one for a simple repair.

Thanks!
