We're not discontinuing yet either, but recently made these changes:

Reduced our number of checkouts allowed per patron

Reduced our instant borrows cost limit

Set a monthly budget cap in our Hoopla account

We have had patrons call and ask about their borrowing, and so far everyone has been very understanding about our overall budget limitations. We just implemented these changes at the beginning of this month, so we shall see...

We are also not discontinuing. However, we have made the following adjustments:

Reduced the number of allowable checkouts per customer;

Stopped emailing people about renewing items they still have;

And just this month, we changed the limit of the allowable cost of instant borrows from $3.99 to $2.84. I am getting complaints from
 some people, but it is estimated that it will save us a lot of money. I’ll know once I get the March bill.

I recently got a new hoopla rep, and I shared my concerns. He did an analysis and found that the reduction in the cost of instant borrows will make a significant difference (the last bullet).
 We shall see…

I am also looking into ways to reduce our Hoopla costs. If I can't get it under control, we will need to get rid of it, too.

Dear Librarians,

Are any of you discontinuing Hoopla due to unsustainable costs per month? We seem to be experiencing large increases.
