*Position Opening:* Willard Library


*Position Title:*  Youth Services Manager

*Classification:*  Department Head (F.T.)

*Hours of Work: *Salaried, some nights and weekends

*Major Responsibility:* Reports the Assistant Director; directs the
activities of the Youth Services Department

*Illustration of Key Duties:*


   1. Plans, coordinates, and oversees library services and programs,
   including budgetary and schedule oversight.
   2. Conducts library tours, presents programs to local groups as
   requested and performs outreach activities for library guests.
   3. Develops Youth Services subject areas in the library materials
   collection, selects materials for purchase and maintains the collection.
   4. Interviews applicants for hire and makes recommendations to the
   library administration.
   5. Supervises and trains Youth Services staff.
   6. Confers with community groups in an advisory capacity.
   7. Researches and implements new library services and products.
   8. Promotes library services through the use of social media and print
   media.
   9. Provides reader’s advisory, reference and other guest assistance
   services.
   10. Advises the library administration in regard to policies and
   procedures in area of responsibility; writes reports and recommendations;
   implements decisions.
   11. Enforces library policies and procedures.
   12. Compiles statistical information on area of service.
   13. Serves on professional and library system committees as assigned by
   the library administration.
   14. Displays professional decorum in all interactions with library
   guests and fellow staff.
   15. Performs other related work as assigned by the library
   administration.

*Salary:* Starting at $49,972; placement on scale dependent on experience
and qualifications.



*Hours:* Some evenings and weekends required.


*Education and Experience:*


   1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
   2. Master of Library Science from an American Library Association
   accredited library school or a Masters in Education required.
   3. Experience working with a diverse group of students and educators.
   4. Second language preferred

*Start Date:* November 2018
